Church History

1989

A small group of 16 faithful believers began meeting in a series of homes in Pictou County. Soon after, the small group outgrew the homes and moved into the I.O.O.F. hall in the heart of Westville to meet for church. Later the year, they called Pastor Alan Porter to be their first pastor. Under his leadership, they were organized into an official church body and were called Bethel Baptist Church.

Our beliefs

  1. That we are saved by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.

  2. That we are eternally safe in our salvation. (Once saved, always saved)

  3. That Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave and bodily ascended to Heaven.

  4. That Jesus Christ will return for His saints in an event known as the rapture before the Great Tribulation.

  5. That the King James Version is the best version for English speaking people today and we believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible.

  6. That there are three persons in the God-Head; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

  7. That the church should remain separated from the state.

  8. That believers should separate themselves from the world.

  9. That the local church is the hope of the world by preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
